NewsAlert: New York Rangers eliminate Montreal; advance to Stanley Cup final

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The New York Rangers have advanced to the Stanley Cup final.

Dominic Moore scored to lead the Rangers to a 1-0 victory over the Montreal Canadiens and a 4-2 series win in the Eastern Conference final.

The Rangers will play for the Cup for the first time since winning it in 1994.

Moore broke the scoreless stalemate 18:07 into the second period.

He was in front of the net open for a shot when Brian Boyle fed him the puck from behind Montreal goaltender Dustin Tokarski.

Tokarski finished with 31 saves while a listless Canadiens’ offence fired just 18 shots at New York’s Henrik Lundqvist.
