Toronto’s Aaron Brown breaks Mahorn’s 23-year-old Canadian 200-metre record

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Aaron Brown has laid claim to one of the oldest records on the Canadian track and field books.
The 22-year-old from Toronto ran 20.16 seconds to win the 200 metres at the NCAA West Championships on Saturday, breaking Atlee Mahorn’s 23-year-old national record by one one-hundredth of a second.
Brown’s time is tied for fifth fastest in the world this season. It came a day after he won the 100 metres in 10.12, the fastest by a Canadian this season.
The senior for the USC Trojans will compete in his final NCAA meet June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.
Brown was a member of Canada’s 4×100 relay that won bronze at last summer’s world championships in Moscow.
