Second brush with the law for Olalla man results in charges

PENTICTON – An Olalla man who was recently the centre of a major police action has caught their attention once again following an incident in Keremeos yesterday.

Penticton and Keremeos RCMP are investigating after the man reportedly used his own vehicle to push another vehicle into a fence, and later pointed a firearm at the vehicle’s owner.

The man was taken into custody following the incident, which took place yesterday, Dec. 9.

The accused was arrested in Penticton and held for a court appearance today, Dec. 10. He faces multiple firearm and vehicle charges.

“It's uncertain what the motive was for the accused, however, mental health is possibly a contributing factor,” Const. James Grandy said in a press release.

The man was recently the subject of a standoff on Nov. 28, when the RCMP's Emergency Response Team was called after he barricaded himself inside his Olalla home.

The action shut down Highway 3 for a period of time. No charges were laid in that incident, which concluded with the man being arrested under the Mental Health Act.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession.
