Absent but not forgotten: Jim Kelly’s presence resonates at Hall of Fame QB’s charity event

BATAVIA, N.Y. – As Jim Kelly recovers from cancer treatments in a Buffalo hospital, the Bills’ Hall of Fame quarterback’s presence resonated at his annual charitable golf tournament.

Former Miami quarterback Dan Marino shed his Dolphins colours to wear a blue T-shirt with the words “Kelly Tough” printed on the front. Former Bills general manager Bill Polian noted Kelly was present in spirit. He described the large turnout a reflection of the support Kelly has while battling the recurrence of cancer, which has spread to his sinuses.

The 28th annual tournament went on without Kelly on Monday, and expected to raise more than $250,000 for the Kelly for Kids Foundation.

Kelly completed his cancer treatments last week, and could be healthy enough to return home this week.
