Top seeded players Djokovic, Williams highlight Rogers Cup draws

TORONTO – Top-ranked players Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams highlight the list of players for the upcoming Rogers Cup tennis tournaments in Toronto and Montreal.

Djokovic, the current holder of all four Grand Slams, headlines the entry list in Toronto which features all of the top 43 players on the ATP Tour. In Montreal, Williams will attempt to win her fourth Rogers Cup title in a field that features 30 of the top 35 players on the WTA Tour and nine of the top 10.

Defending champion Andy Murray, former champions Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and Canadian star Milos Raonic will also join the men’s event. Raonic, from Thornhill, Ont., became the first Canadian to make the Rogers Cup final since 1958 when he finished runner-up in 2013.

Vancouver’s Vasek Pospisil, a semifinalist in 2013, will also be competing in Toronto as a wild card recipient.

The women’s event will feature defending champion Belinda Bencic, past winners Agnieszka Radwanska and Petra Kvitova and French Open champion Garbine Muguruza.

Montreal’s Eugenie Bouchard has also earned a place in the main draw and will try to advance past the second round for the first time.
