New York GM Glen Sather says Rangers understand Cup final challenge

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Glen Sather knows a little something about Stanley Cups. And the Rangers president and GM knows what the Los Angeles Kings bring to the table.

Great forwards, great defence and great goaltending. Sather, architect of the great Edmonton Oilers teams, says it’s going to be tough challenge.

New York coach Alain Vigneault says his team has its hands full, but is ready.

East meets West starting Wednesday in a Cup final that features two teams who have already travelled a marathon journey to get here.

The Kings have played 21 games, winning three Game 7s. The Rangers have played 20, including two game 7s.
