VERNON – Vernon RCMP are investigating an electronics theft with links to a similar Kelowna incident earlier this week.

Just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, four men walked into the London Drugs at 4400 32nd St. in Vernon, with their identities concealed, according to an RCMP media release.

They went to the electronics section of the store where they grabbed two laptop computers from a display and fled. Police call this crime a grab-and-dash. No arrests have been made.

RCMP describe the four suspects as non-white men, each wearing dark clothing, hoodies and hats, with one man wearing a mask.

“The Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are currently investigating this incident and will continue to liaise with the Kelowna RCMP in gathering evidence and identifying the subjects, as they are believed to be related at this time,” Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett said in the release.

Six thieves committed thefts in a number of Orchard Park Mall shops yesterday.

Vernon RCMP are seeking witnesses to the incident, or anyone who may have witnessed the men in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 250-545-7171, and reference file #2018-29246. Citizens can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
