Williams scores in OT as Kings beat Rangers 3-2 in Game 1 of Stanley Cup final

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Justin Williams scored in overtime to give the Los Angeles Kings a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final.

Benoit Pouliot and Carl Hagelin, with a short-handed goal, gave New York a 2-0 lead in the first period.

But Los Angeles rallied with goals by Kyle Clifford and Drew Doughty to tie the game heading into the third.

Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist kept his team alive during the third period when the Kings overwhelmed New York with a 20-3 shot advantage.

Lundqvist finished with 40 saves while Jonathan Quick stopped 25 shots for L.A.

Game 2 is Saturday in Los Angeles.
