TORONTO – HBO is developing a “MaddAddam” drama series based on CanLit great Margaret Atwood’s dystopian trilogy of novels.
The Toronto-based writer has tweeted several links to articles about the project which, according to Deadline.com, has “Black Swan” director Darren Aronofsky as executive producer.
She’s also tweeted thanks to those who’ve expressed goodwill about the series, noting it will include the whole imaginative trilogy, from “Oryx and Crake” to “The Year of the Flood” and “MaddAddam.”
“I’ve met+ brainstormed with the Team and they’re terrific!” says a post on Atwood’s Twitter account.
Random House of Canada also confirmed the news to The Canadian Press.
Deadline says Aronofsky may also direct the series, which he’s making through his Protozoa Pictures.
The trio of books finds the human race on the brink of extinction through abuse of global resources.
