North Kamloops library to temporarily close in new year

KAMLOOPS – The North Kamloops library branch will be closed for nine days in January.

The branch will be temporarily closed for renovations from Friday, Jan. 4 to Sunday, Jan. 13, according to a regional district media release. It will reopen at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14.

The short-term closure will see North Kamloops library receive a new centralized welcome desk, enhanced security and an emphasis on self-service for patrons.

“Our main objectives are to enhance our customer service, and to provide a welcoming environment for all users," chief librarian Judy Moore says in the release. “Our self-check machines are simple to use and allow our staff to focus more time on helping patrons with library materials or developing new, innovative programs to serve our diverse communities.”

While the North Kamloops branch is closed, loan periods will be extended and patrons are encouraged to keep their library materials at home.

The downtown Kamloops branch on Victoria Street is still open seven days a week.
