Lake Country residents threatened and car stolen during break-in

LAKE COUNTRY – Someone broke into a Lake Country home early yesterday morning and when confronted by the homeowners, brandished a weapon then fled in the owner’s vehicle.

Police were called at 6:07 a.m. yesterday, Dec. 17, about a break and enter in a subdivision off Carrs Landing Road.

The homeowners woke up to find the suspect in their home. One of the residents confronted the intruder and was threatened with a weapon. The type of weapon used was not specified in an RCMP news release.

“After being confronted, the masked suspect allegedly fled from the home, driving the owners white 2016 Lexus CT200 sedan,” states RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey in the release. “Thankfully none of the residents of the home were injured during the confrontation.”

The Kelowna Regional Detachment’s Integrated Forensic Identification Services are helping Lake Country RCMP in their investigation. Forensic specialists conducted an examination of the scene for physical evidence.

RCMP say anyone spotting the white 2016 Lexus CT200, which was bearing British Columbia licence plates CV777V at the time of the theft, is advised not to approach the vehicle or its occupants and call local police immediately.
