Woman seriously hurt in targeted drive-by shooting in east Vancouver

VANCOUVER – A woman is in hospital with serious gunshot wounds after a targeted shooting in east Vancouver.

Vancouver Police Const. Brian Montague says the woman was hit and a man was slightly injured Sunday evening when their vehicle was peppered with bullets fired from a passing SUV.

The shooting occurred just after 7 p.m. while the victims’ vehicle was parked at a gas station (on East Hastings near Vernon Drive.)

Investigators blocked off the area but have not made any arrests.

Montague says although police believe the man and woman were targeted, a motive for the attack has not been determined.

Officers spent Sunday night speaking with witnesses, gathering evidence and canvassing for any video that could identify any suspects.
