Head-on crash on Highway 16 in northwestern B.C. claims four lives

TERRACE, B.C. – Four people have been killed in a head-on crash in northwestern British Columbia.

The collision between a van and an SUV happened early Saturday evening on Highway 16 between Moricetown and New Hazelton, north of Smithers.

RCMP confirm a lone 72-year-old woman from Prince Rupert died in the SUV along with all three people in the van.

Const. Angela Rabut says the two men and a woman in the van were related and were residents of Moricetown.

She says the men were aged 67 and 75, while the woman was in her 80s, but their names, or the name of the Prince Rupert woman, have not been released.

A cause of the crash remains under investigation. (CFTK)
