NEW YORK, N.Y. – Jonathan Quick made 33 saves and Jeff Carter’s goal at 19:59 of the first period stood up as the winner as the Los Angeles Kings downed the host New York Rangers 3-0 on Monday to take a 3-0 series lead in the Stanley Cup final.

Jake Muzzin and Mike Richards added goals in the second period for the Kings, despite the Rangers outshooting L.A. in the middle period 17-8.

New York’s Henrik Lundqvist stopped 12-of-15 shots in defeat.

The Kings went 1 for 4 on the power play as the Rangers failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.

L.A. can clinch its second Stanley Cup in the past three seasons when New York hosts Game 4 on Wednesday.
