‘Second City’ sketch comedy among slate of new digital content from Shaw

TORONTO – Shaw Media has announced a slate of new digital content, including a sketch comedy series featuring the newest generation of Second City comedians.

“The Second City Project,” which will premiere in short form on GlobalTV.com and Global Go this fall before airing on Global as a series of specials, is one Shaw’s four new “cross-platform” offerings.

Featuring Canadian paleontologists making new discoveries, “Dino Hunt Canada” will air on History as a four-part television event, accompanied by interactive digital content on History.ca in partnership with the Royal Ontario Museum.

Food Network Canada is launching a digital project called “The Great Canadian Cookbook,” which will allow Canadians to contribute recipes and watch exclusive videos. A one-hour special will follow on Food Network in winter 2015.

“The HGTV Home Giveaway” will allow online users to help design a fully-furnished, custom-built house that will be given away to one lucky winner in a television special on HGTV Canada.

Shaw’s announcement comes a day after CTV added four new web series to its line-up, suggesting that Canadian broadcasters are responding to the growing demand for online and mobile television viewing.
