New $4 million chairlift opens in time for Christmas at Sun Peaks Resort

SUN PEAKS – A new chairlift will be up and running in time for Christmas Day at Sun Peaks Resort.

The $4 million project is a four-passenger, fixed grip chairlift which will give skiers improved access to the village and to the existing ski terrain, according to a media release issued by Sun Peaks Resort.

Construction for the Orient chairlift began in the summer and has been ongoing throughout the fall.

The chairlift will spin daily beginning at 8:30 a.m. starting today, Dec. 24.

An official opening celebration for the new chairlift will be held in late January, the release says.
