Jennifer Lopez to perform World Cup anthem in Brazil; says cancellation talk ‘premature’

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Not so fast: J. Lo is performing at the World Cup after all.

Jennifer Lopez said in an interview with The Associated Press that she is flying to Brazil on Wednesday night to perform during the tournament’s opening ceremony on Thursday.

FIFA officials announced earlier this week that the singer wouldn’t perform the official tune “We Are One” alongside Pitbull and Claudia Leitte, but Lopez said Tuesday that announcement was premature.

She said “we always were going” going to the World Cup, but that her crazed schedule made things difficult. She will sing before Brazil takes on Croatia at Thursday’s opening game in Sao Paulo.

The 44-year-old is also busy promoting her tenth album, “A.K.A.,” to be released next week.
