Kerry Washington, Cate Blanchett accept Women in Film awards, urge women to take more risks

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Kerry Washington stepped back into the spotlight for the first time since becoming a mom last month to accept an award from Women in Film.

The “Scandal” star and fellow honorees Cate Blanchett, Eva Longoria, Rose Byrne and “Frozen” writer-director Jennifer Lee were honoured by the non-profit group Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Both Washington and Blanchett said women must be willing to take risks and reveal imperfections to tell authentic stories about their experiences.

Actress Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the dinner ceremony at the Century Plaza Hotel, where guests included John Lasseter, Kristen Bell, Shonda Rhimes, Laura Dern and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
