Penticton’s McLaren Arena set to reopen after temporary closure
PENTICTON – McLaren Arena will reopen to the public tomorrow after a snowplow backed into a gas meter and caused a temporary closure.
Residents can expect to resume their skating activities starting tomorrow, Jan. 3, after repairs were made to the broken gas meter today, Jan.2, according to a City of Penticton media release.
The city's facility supervisor Chris Schmidt said a snowplow backed into it the gas meter, destroying it. Although the gas meter had vehicular protection around it, the small snowplow managed to knock that over and impaled the back of the gas meter, he explained.
Residents can enjoy a public skate from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow or Stick 'N Puck from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., the city says.
