4-year-old child dead in northern Quebec after possible dog attack

PUVIRNITUQ, Que. – A four-year-old child has died in what police say is a possible dog attack in a small village in northern Quebec.

Quebec provincial police spokeswoman Christine Coulombe says the child was found dead on Saturday afternoon in a field in Puvirnituq, a community in the Inuit territory of Nunavik.

The identity and gender of the child hasn’t been made public.

Coulombe says the investigation is ongoing and an autopsy on the child will be performed in Montreal.

Police hope to have more details on Monday.
