Toronto Stock Exchange (11,579.15, up 7.96 points):

High River Gold Mines Ltd. (TSX:HRG). Miner. Up 18 cents, or 14.63 per cent, at $1.41 on 12,457,473 shares. A major shareholder of High River Gold Mines Ltd. is proposing to buy the rest of its stock in a deal that values the Canadian company at more that $1.17 billion. Nord Gold NV of Amsterdam said it would offer $1.40 per share in cash or stock for the rest.

Trican Well Service Ltd. (TSX:TCW). Oil and gas. Up 10 cents, or 0.95 per cent, at $10.60 on 5,040,956 shares.

BlackPearl Resources Inc. (TSX:PXX). Oil and gas. Up 26 cents, or 8.72 per cent, at $3.24 on 4,510,332 shares.

Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (TSX:CNQ). Oil and gas. Up 76 cents, or 2.78 per cent, at $28.07 on 4,473,763 shares.

Nexen Inc. (TSX:NXY). Oil and gas. Up 33 cents, or 1.93 per cent, at $17.43 on 3,244,620 shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Down seven cents, or 1.78 per cent, at $3.86 on 2,999,986 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,182.34 up 5.59 points):

Canamex Resources Corp. (TSXV:CSQ). Miner. Up 29 cents, or 290 per cent, at 39 cents on 23,004,070 shares.

IBC Advanced Alloys Corp. (TSXV:IB). Miner. Down one cent, or 9.52 per cent, at 9.5 cents on 13,770,642 shares.

Cogeco Cable Inc. (TSX:CCA). Communication. Down $6.60, or 14.83 per cent, at $37.90 on 773,688 shares. Canada’s fourth-largest cable TV company will get a toehold in the U.S. market with a US$1.36-billion deal to buy a regional provider, Cogeco Cable Inc.’s first big acquisition since its failed venture into Portugal.

New Flyer Industries Inc. (TSX:NFI). Bus company. Up 21 cents, or 3.19 per cent, at $6.80 on 67,175 shares. New Flyer says it has secured a $28-million contract to provide buses for Vancouver’s TransLink with the possibility of future orders. Winnipeg-based New Flyer said Wednesday it has received an initial order of 42 buses and the contract provides for up to 87 buses.
