Chilean World Cup fans break into Maracana stadium, trash temporary walls

RIO DE JANEIRO – About 100 soccer fans have broken into the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro, trashing temporary walls and lockers before Chile was to play Spain.

The group was apparently mostly Chilean fans without tickets trying to get into the stadium.

They sprinted through the large FIFA media centre, causing some damage. Security guards were slow to respond and small in number — one guard grabbed a Chile fan by the neck.
