Kamloops Airport sees 10 per cent jump in passengers

KAMLOOPS – Kamloops Airport saw passenger numbers rise by over 10 per cent in 2018 making last year the busiest in the airport's 80-year history.

According to a press release YKA saw 351,631 passengers in 2018, a 10.6 per cent jump from 314,364 in 2017. The airport also had its busiest month on record in December 2018 with 35,132 passengers using the airport.

The airport, which opened in 1939, is expecting more growth in 2019 with the return of a direct Air Canada Rouge seasonal service to Toronto starting in June this year.

In December 2018 Kelowna Airport recorded its two millionth passenger, a number the airport did not expect to hit until 2020.
