All topics on table at Conservative town hall meeting in Kelowna

KELOWNA – Conservative MP Michelle Rempel is making a few Okanagan stops next week, including a meeting on firearms in Vernon.

But the town hall meeting she’s attending with Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola MP Dan Albas will have a much broader focus.

“We’re calling it Have Your Say,” Albas told iNFOnews.ca. “It’s important for me to hear where people are at.”

This is one of a series of town hall meetings Albas has hosted, including West Kelowna last month and Merritt this week.

It will be held next Friday, Jan. 18 at the Ramada Hotel on Harvey Avenue near Dilworth Drive from 6 to 8 p.m.

Rempel is the MP for Calgary Nose Hill and a former Minster of State. She’s attending a town hall meeting on firearms with North Okanagan-Shuswap Conservative MP Mel Arnold on Saturday, followed by a dinner in Salmon Arm that night.

Albas said his Kelowna session was planned some time ago so he invited Rempel to attend when he heard she was going to be in the area. Since she’s from Alberta, he said, she can offer her prespective on issues facing that province.

While most of his riding is on the Westside through to the Similkameen and Merritt, some of it reaches into Kelowna. That part of the riding is bounded by Mission Creek to the south, Harvey Avenue and Orchard Park mall.
