Sex offender released in Kamloops heads for Vancouver

VICTORIA – A high-risk sex offender released in Kamloops earlier this week is heading for Vancouver instead of Cranbrook.

B.C. Corrections issued a public notice Saturday, after Jason Beaudry, 37, changed his plan to live in the Kootenays, opting for the Lower Mainland instead. He was released from the Regional Correctional Centre in Kamloops on Monday.

Beaudry has a lengthy and varied criminal history of offending in an opportunistic manner against men, women, strangers and acquaintances that include violent and sexual offences and weapon use, according to a media release.

Beaudry will be closely monitored by authorities and must follow 13 court-ordered conditions including: must not possess or carry and weapon; must not enter an establishment where the primary item for sale is alcohol; must abstain completely from possessing, purchasing or consuming alcohol or drugs; must not be outside his residence between 10 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Beaudry is 5'11" tall and weighs 180 pounds. He is Aboriginal with black hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone who sees Beaudry violating his conditions for release is asked to call their local police.
