Attorney general to detail how Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse investigation handled
HARRISBURG, Pa. – Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane is preparing to release a report with new details on how police and prosecutors handled the Jerry Sandusky child molestation investigation.
Kane raised questions about the investigation when she was running for attorney general two years ago.
Kane ordered the review and brought in law professor and former federal prosecutor Geoff Moulton to conduct it. The report is scheduled for release Monday.
The report has political implications because the state prosecutor’s office got involved in early 2009, when the current governor, Tom Corbett, was attorney general. Corbett is running for re-election this year.
It took prosecutors nearly three years to charge the former Penn State assistant coach. He was convicted and is serving a lengthy prison sentence.
Corbett is a Republican. Kane is a Democrat.
