Breaking Benjamin, Asking Alexandria coming to Okanagan

PENTICTON – Multi-platinum headliners Breaking Benjamin and Asking Alexandria will be joined by The Wild! and Diamante at this year’s annual Powerball rock bash at the South Okanagan Events Centre on Saturday, April 13.

Breaking Benjamin’s sixth studio album, Ember, debuted at number 3 on the Billboard Top 200 last April, and has sold almost a quarter million albums to date, according to a events centre media release. The album has produced two number one hits including Torn in Two, which has become the band’s ninth number one song.

Asking Alexandria is considered one of the most streamed, downloaded, watched and listened to bands of the generation, combining modern active rock with more traditional notes, the release states. The band has had two certified gold singles in “The Final Episode” and “Not the American Average” for sales in excess of a half million each.

The Wild add a new dimension to rock and roll, "driven by long, hard nights, the love of playing music, rural roots, and a no bull mentality.”

“Anybody who’s ever been told to turn it down, clean it up or go home lives inside of what the God Damn Wild Boys are all about,” the release says.

Diamante had a breakout year with her debut album Coming in Hot, which features her latest single Haunted. She has also been featured on Bad Wolves latest single Hear Me Now, which was included in Billboard’s 2018 year end hot rock songs chart.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. online at www.ValleyFirstTix.com. Ticket prices are $52.50 and $62.50.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
