A Kelowna RCMP officer got a scare this morning when she stopped a man driving in the wrong direction on Leon Avenue. The officer asked the man to step out of his vehicle, and pulled out her gun—then she noticed he was in black uniform and appeared to be armed.
When police detained the man, they realized it was a false alarm.
The 20-year-old man was carrying an airsoft pistol and a can of dog spray, on his way to play airsoft games in a nearby forest. The man was cooperative with the officer and none of the items were found to be illegal. However police did give the man a ticket for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
