
Kamloops Mayor’s Awards for the Arts winners 2019
KAMLOOPS – This past weekend the mayor of Kamloops handed out awards at the annual Mayor’s Gala for the Arts.
The 1950s-themed awards party recognized local artists and supporters of the arts for their continued work to enrich the community, according to a media release.
Two people won in the Emerging Artist category, which recognizes up-and-coming visual and performing artists. Visual artist and REpublic Gallery co-owner Robin Hodgson took home the prize, along with JP Lancaster a local musician and music publisher.
Then in the Community Impact category, awarded to individuals or small businesses that have made a significant financial contribution supporting local arts, Niki Remesz took home the award. Remesz is the founder and owner of Uniquely Inspired Marketing, a full-service marketing and consulting firm.
The Mayor's Gala for the Arts is a collaborative partnership that brings together the City of Kamloops, Kamloops Art Gallery, Kamloops Symphony and Western Canada Theatre, to recognize and celebrate the arts and culture sector of Kamloops.
