Driver charged, caught with three duffle bags of marijuana

“ALL BECAUSE HE FAILED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN”

VERNON – Loading up his car with 47 pounds of marijuana was his first mistake. Blowing a stop sign was his second.

Saturday morning a police officer noticed a car roll through a railway stop sign at 37 Ave. and 31 St.

A 28-year-old Lumby man in a grey 1999 GMC Jimmy was pulled over a block away.

“While dealing with the driver the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle,” RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says.

The officer conducted a search of the vehicle and three large duffle bags filled with vacuum sealed Ziplock bags of bud were discovered.

In total, over 47 pounds of marijuana was seized.  The man faces charges of possession and has been released on a promise to appear in court next spring "all because he failed to stop at a stop sign" Molendyk says.
