ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Blues have picked up one of the most coveted players of the NHL free-agent period, signing centre Paul Stastny to a four-year deal.
Stastny had 25 goals and 35 assists in 71 games with the Colorado Avalanche last season, adding five goals and five assists in seven playoff games.
He has 160 goals and 298 assists in 538 career regular-season games with the Avalanche.
Stastny was born in Quebec City but grew up in St. Louis while his father, Hall of Famer Peter Stastny, finished his NHL career with the Blues.
His brother Yan Stastny has also played for St. Louis.
