CHASE – Police thought they smelled something skunky when they pulled a speeding rental car over on Hwy 1 at Chase yesterday.
The smell turned out to be marijunana and two men, the 43-year-old driver and 23-year-old passenger, both from Agassiz were arrested for possession of marijuana.
A further search by RCMP uncovered 27 pounds of marijuana, hidden in the hatch area.
The suspects were released on a recognizance and a recommendation for charges will be forward to Crown counsel.
The first court date will take place in March, 2014.
