TORONTO – Canada has risen one spot in the world rugby rankings to No. 17 after thumping Russia 46-21 in Calgary.
The Canadian men vaulted past the U.S., who slipped to No. 18 in the wake of a 24-20 loss to Italy. Canada hosts the touring Italians, who moved up one spot to No. 13, on Sunday at Toronto’s BMO Field.
Russia dropped one place to No. 20.
New Zealand remained No. 1 but Australia fell two places to No. 4 after a second straight loss to England, which rose one place to No. 2. South Africa, which rallied to beat Wales on the weekend, moved up one spot to No. 3.
