Man accused in deadly mill shooting in Nanaimo makes court appearance
NANAIMO, B.C. – The suspect in a deadly shooting at a sawmill in Nanaimo, B.C., has made another court appearance in that Vancouver Island city.
Forty-seven-year-old Kevin Addison appeared briefly by video link from the detention centre in Victoria, where he remains in custody.
Addison faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Michael Lunn and Fred McEachern, and two counts of attempted murder in connection with the April 30 shooting at the Western Forest Products mill.
His lawyer asked for additional time to review a large amount of information, and Addison has been ordered to make another video appearance in a Nanaimo courtroom on Aug. 5.
He has also been barred from contacting about a dozen people.
Five of Lunn’s relatives attended the Tuesday-morning court appearance, all wearing red shirts in honour of Lunn’s signature workwear.
