Lifetime orders ‘Clan of the Cave Bear’ pilot based on Jean M. Auel’s bestselling novels

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Lifetime TV channel says it has ordered a drama pilot based on the bestselling works of the author of “The Clan of the Cave Bear.”

Lifetime said Wednesday that the project’s executive producers include filmmakers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer.

The pilot is titled “The Clan of the Cave Bear.” That’s the title of Jean M. Auel’s first novel in her “Earth’s Children” series.

Lifetime says the TV project is aimed at a potential 2015 launch.

A 1986 big-screen version of “The Clan of the Cave Bear” starred Daryl Hannah.
