America’s Rugby Championship returns to Langford, B.C., in October
LANGFORD, B.C. – Canada will host teams from Argentina, the U.S. and Uruguay at the IRB America’s Rugby Championship (ARC) in October.
Argentina, Canada and the U.S. will field ‘A’ teams while Uruguay will send its full national squad.
For Canadian players, the competition is a chance to climb up the depth chart ahead of the 2015 World Cup.
“If you look at our schedule between now and the 2015 Rugby World Cup, we will be following a progression from this year’s Canadian Rugby Championship to the ARC to the 2014 fall tour,” Rugby Canada general manager Mike Chu said Thursday in a statement.
“The next time we assemble after that will be the 2015 Pacific Nations Cup, so that means that every game between now and then is crucial for World Cup selection.”
The ARC opens Oct. 11, with additional match days on Oct. 15 and 19.
The Argentina Jaguars have won the competition the last four years.
