Police need help finding downtown attacker

KELOWNA – An alleged unprovoked assault of a 58-year-old man in downtown Kelowna last week has police asking the public for help identifying the unknown attacker.

Kelowna RCMP received a report that a Kelowna man was attacked from behind while hailing a taxi at the intersection of Lawrence Ave. and Water St. at 11:20 p.m. Nov. 22. According to a release from RCMP, the man was struck from behind and knocked unconscious. The attacker is also believed to have been involved in another altercation before fleeing on foot in the direction of Bernard Avenue.

“The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to Kelowna General Hospital for treatment,” the release says.

The suspect is a 6-foot-tall Caucasian 20-something male with a slim to average build. He has short, blond hair and was wearing a dark jacket and jeans.
