Four hurt in float plane crash in St. John Harbour near Bella Bella

BELLA BELLA, B.C. – The RCMP say four men were injured Friday afternoon when their float plane crashed during takeoff in St. John Harbour near Bella Bella in B.C.’s central coast.

The B.C. Coast Guard and RCMP Emergency Centre received the distress call just before four o’clock.

Police issued a release late Friday that said the four victims, all B.C. residents, were rescued from the water and taken to a local hospital where two were treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The other two escaped with minor injuries.

Police say the investigation into the crash is in its very early stages, and more information might be released at a later time.
