EVERETT, Wash. – Cross Hanas was the lone scorer in the shootout as the Portland Winterhawks upset the Everett Silvertips 4-3 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.
Hanas also scored in regulation time as he, Tyson Kozak and Clay Hanus reeled off three unanswered goals for Portland (4-5-1).
Dante Giannuzzi made 36 saves for the win.
Hunter Campbell, Ronan Seeley and Dylan Anderson built a 3-0 lead for Everett (6-0-1), which extended its point streak to seven games, including six wins.
Goalie Braden Holt stopped 24 shots for the Silvertips.
The Winterhawks went 2 for 7 on the power play and Everett was 2 for 8 with the man advantage.
Elsewhere in the WHL, Kamloops routed Victoria 7-1 for the Royals’ ninth straight loss, Seattle downed Spokane 4-1, Vancouver toppled Kelowna 7-2, Edmonton beat Winnipeg 3-1, Lethbridge slipped past Saskatoon, Moose Jaw earned a 4-3 overtime win over Medicine Hat, Brandon had a 5-4 shootout victory over Prince Albert, and Regina bested Swift Current 4-1.
