NC museum visitors to learn about Civil War injuries
KINSTON, N.C. – PTer for Saturday, May 5
A re-enactor and retired emergency medical technician will teach visitors about the treatment of wounds during the Civil War during an event at the CSS Neuse Museum in Kinston.
Historians say that of the approximately 620,000 soldier deaths during the war, two-third were caused by disease, not enemy fire.
During the event Saturday, re-enactor Gary Riggs will discuss medical displays, along with two presentations. He’ll discuss wounds in the field, practices and procedures, nursing and disease during the war.
Riggs is a retired EMT and firefighter.
