SNC-Lavalin gets Keewatinoow switchyard project with Manitoba Hydro
MONTREAL – Manitoba Hydro has awarded engineering firm SNC-Lavalin (TSX:SNC) a $112-million contract for the design and construction of the Keewatinoow switchyard project near Winnipeg.
SNC said Monday it will oversee the early stages of the project, including its design and construction, before helping the utility with the commissioning and training of staff.
Work has already begun and is expected to stretch into mid-2017 at the switchyard, which is about 775 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.
The switchyard will transfer power from gathering stations at the northern part of Nelson River to customers in the southern region of the company’s reach.
