Ben Kingsley to star in ‘Tut’ series that will be partially shot in Canada

MONTREAL – Ben Kingsley has signed on to a TV series that will profile King Tutankhamun and be partially filmed in Canada.

Producers say the Oscar-winning actor will play Ay, the Grand Vizier to the boy pharaoh, in the six-hour “limited series” titled “Tut.”

His character is described as being “the true power behind the Tutankhamun throne.”

Shooting is set for Montreal and Morocco from September to December.

The series from Muse Entertainment is scheduled to premiere on Spike TV in 2015.

The channel says “Tut” is its first scripted event series in eight years and “the biggest and most ambitious project in Spike’s history.”

Muse Entertainment’s other series have included “The Kennedys,” “Being Human” and “Bomb Girls.”
