Body of Calgary man missing in Shuswap Lake, B.C., last year is identified

KELOWNA, B.C. – The BC Coroners Service has confirmed a body pulled out of Shuswap Lake is that of a Calgary man who disappeared last year.

Twenty-five-year-old Kevin Boutilier was with some friends on a houseboat last August when he and several others jumped into the lake to retrieve a hat.

The coroners’ service says weather conditions caused the boat to drift away from the group.

Even with the help of friends, Boutilier was unable to get back to the boat.

An extensive initial search was unsuccessful at finding Boutilier’s body.

A private recovery service resumed the search for the man’s body earlier this month, and the recovery was made on Friday.
