Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts headlining Peachfest

PENTICTON – Canadian icon Barney Bentall will be adding his name to headline acts at Penticton’s Peachfest this summer.

The leader of the Legendary Hearts will reunite with his band for a special performance at the Penticton Peach Festival on Friday, Aug. 9 at 9:30 p.m., according to a Peach Festival media release.

Bentall will be bringing such hits as “Something to Live For,” “Life Could be Worse,” “Do Ya,” and “Living in the 90s,” from platinum albums that resulted in 20 single releases in Canada, Peach Fest says. Bentall’s work on the soundtrack of “American Boyfriends,” a follow up to the made in Naramata movie “My American Cousin,” was nominated for a Genie Award.

Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts released a number of albums into the mid 1990s before the band members decided to move on to new careers, but nowadays get together once or twice a year to perform.

Bentall is best known for “Something to Live For,” a song Bentall attributes to his musical longevity.

“It’s the reason I am still in music. I have a great appreciation for that song,” he says in the release.
