Mexican beer brand launches ad campaign against violence

MEXICO CITY – Mexican beer brand Tecate says it doesn’t want to sell you beer if you commit violence against women.

It’s running a television commercial telling male customers they’ll be judged on how they treat women.

The ad shows a store gate closing shut on a man who earlier left a woman crouched and apparently weeping.

The campaign was launched Tuesday with the help of the federal government and the independent National Network of Shelters.

The campaign comes at a time when Mexico has seen a rise in reports of violent crimes against women that has given birth to a wave of activism.
