Cops hunting for suspect in late night break-ins

KELOWNA – Four businesses were broken into overnight Sunday and so far no suspect is in police custody.

RCMP do have a screen grab from a security video they think may be the man behind the crimes.

The string of break-and-enters started at 10:05 p.m. Sunday.

The alarm went off at the Columbia Bottle Depot at 1988 Kirschner Rd. Officers arrived to find the complex had been broken into and the office area rummaged through, but nothing had been taken. The suspect was caught on tape by a security camera.

Minutes later at 10:11 p.m., the front door at the Salvation Army at 1511 Sutherland Dr. was shattered, but nothing was stolen.

At 10:23 p.m., the door was pried open at White and Peters Ltd. at 375 Banks Rd. and the cash drawer taken.

The thief didn’t strike again until 4:24 a.m. Monday when the front door was smashed open at Fastenal at 801 Dalton Rd. At least four power tools were taken.

Police are looking for a Caucasian man, with facial stubble and a slight moustache. He was wearing a hooded jacket, blue jeans, brown shoes and work gloves.
