Some sunshine forecast for the Okanagan this weekend

OKANAGAN – Okanagan residents can look forward to a mostly sunny weekend following some snow tonight and tomorrow.

Environment Canada says the Okanagan will see clearing skies today, Feb. 21, with a high of around 0 Celsius. Clouds are expected to thicken overnight with a 60 per cent chance of flurries and a low of about -6 C.

The forecast calls for periods of snow tomorrow with a high of around 1 C. Vernon is expecting the most snow with five centimetres predicted, while two to four cm are expected in Kelowna and one cm in Penticton. More snow is a possibility overnight in the valley with a low of -3 C.

The weather office is calling for a mix of sun and cloud on Saturday with a high of 1 C and an overnight low of -8 C.

Much the same is expected Sunday with both sunshine and cloud, along with a high of 0 C and a low of -7 C.

Temperatures will dip again on Monday, with sunny skies and a high of -2 C predicted along with an overnight low of -10.

Normal temperatures at this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of about 3 C and lows around -4 C.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
