Flagpole set up at US-Canada border crossing in Idaho

BONNERS FERRY, Idaho – A new flagpole has been set up at the U.S.-Canada border in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Idaho Department of Transportation communications officer Reed Hollinshead told The Spokesman-Review (http://bit.ly/2gOX1eA ) that a flagpole has been missing since the Bonners Ferry Port of Entry was established more than two decades ago.

Port of Entry inspector Tom Chaney and the Idaho transportation staff requested the flagpole to display flags of the U.S., the state of Idaho and the MIA/POW emblem. They worked with local businesses to install the flagpole.

Port senior inspector Philip Youngman said in a news release that seeing the colours displayed outside the window nurtures a feeling of accomplishment.
