3 suspects jailed over Istanbul car-bomb attack

ANKARA, Turkey – Turkey’s state-run news agency says three suspects have been ordered jailed pending prosecution in connection with a car-bomb attack in Istanbul that killed 11 people.

Anadolu Agency says the court in Istanbul on Saturday charged one of the suspects with premeditated murder and membership in an armed organization, while the two other suspects were charged with membership in an armed organization.

There was no information on what role they played in Tuesday’s attack which targeted a riot police vehicle and killed six police officers and five civilians.

A Kurdish militant group, considered to be an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, claimed responsibility for the attack and warned tourists that Turkey was no longer secure for them.
