Ex-Patriots player Aaron Hernandez due in court for status hearing in 2013 murder case

FALL RIVER, Mass. – Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez is due back in court for a status hearing in his Massachusetts murder case.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to killing semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd. Lloyd’s body was found in June 2013 near Hernandez’s North Attleborough home.

Lloyd, of Boston, was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee. Two friends of Hernandez’s from Bristol, Connecticut, also have pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the case.

The hearing is scheduled Tuesday morning in Superior Court in Fall River.

On Monday, Hernandez’s lawyers filed a motion protesting that live broadcasts of two previous hearings in the court showed private conversations between Hernandez and his lawyers. The attorneys said the broadcast of the conversations violates state court rules for electronic recording of court proceedings.
